At the end of summer, the northern Maldives is taken over by a large population of manta rays coming to feed and breed before migrating to other atolls and other parts of the Indian Ocean. This is a unique opportunity for divers to swim alongside these graceful giants, which move elegantly in their natural habitat.

Our BEST OF MANTAS expedition visits Baa Atoll and the famous Hanifaru Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a breathtaking show of grace and delicacy, up close to these giants of the sea that every diver dreams of meeting. One of our destination managers, Barbara Gravel or Nicolas Viricel, will be on the cruise in support of our usual guides, to provide information on the migration, reproduction, feeding, recognition and protection of manta rays.

Besides manta rays, these atolls are full of other underwater wonders. You can swim alongside sharks, explore colourful coral reefs and admire a multitude of tropical fish species. The clear, warm waters of the Maldives also offer exceptional diving opportunities for underwater photography enthusiasts, allowing you to capture stunning images.

Monsoon conditions are the most favourable for the formation of plankton, which attracts manta rays and whale sharks. Our experience and knowledge of these atolls and underwater species means we can offer a unique itinerary that maximises your chances of experiencing these unforgettable moments.
